These Amazing Camp Cooking Recipes Are Genius!

Anyone can toast a marshmallow or break out the hot dogs to roast over the coals, but these ideas will have them wondering who this amazing camp cooking genius is.  Don’t worry, we won’t tell them how easy they are!

Alabama Fire Crackers (from Allrecipes, by i phill hungry)

If you’re serving up chilli, these crackers are sure to be a great match!

Place one sleeve of saltine crackers in a zip lock bag with the following:

  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp each: garlic, onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 3 T crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 envelopes ranch dressing mix (dry)

Mix them well without crushing the crackers, then leave overnight.  Serve them up with the chilli!

New Trick for a Dog (from Eurekatent, by Troy Robbins)

Hot dogs are easy, but you can make them better without too much fuss, and everyone will love them.

  • 8 chopped hot dogs
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 8 oz can chilli
  • 3 T barbecue sauce
  • 12 hot dog buns

Mix all the ingredients except the buns, then put each bun on its own piece of tin foil.  Pack it up with the hot dog mixture, and wrap it up tight. You can grill it or put it directly into the coals to cook.

Nothing But the Dog

If you have a purist among you, you can still make their hot dog special.  Once it is on a skewer, take a knife and spiral cut it all the way from top to bottom.  Once the dog is cooked on the fire, it will have its own unusual shape!

S’More Cookies
